Project Description
Castletown Weir Fish Pass Scheme
Inland Fisheries Ireland intend carried out Remedial Works to Castletown Weir, Co. Laois. The structure is located on the River Nore in an SAC immediately upstream of Castletown Bridge in the village of Castletown, Co. Laois.
The weir has been identified by Inland Fisheries Ireland for remedial works due to an inadequate existing fish pass facility at the weir.
A 3-D topographical survey was used to create a detailed 3-D Model of the proposed site.
The preferred design was the provision of a natural rock fish ramp immediately downstream of the weir.
Full Planning Permission was granted in 2014. Works were completed in August 2015.
